Teppei Ikeda Founder & CEO, Philosophia Japan
Teppei Ikeda is an accomplished executive coach and cross-cultural leadership trainer with over 24 years of experience developing leaders across 49 nationalities and more than 15,000 participants worldwide. Drawing on a strong background in Human Resource and Organizational Development, he partners with global organizations to enhance communication, leadership effectiveness, and team collaboration. His areas of expertise include global mindset, negotiation, cross-cultural communication, behavioral change, and team building.
Before founding Philosophia Japan, Teppei built a successful international career in finance and corporate leadership with firms such as Citibank, Barclays Capital, and American Express. Known for his engaging and practical facilitation style, he integrates frameworks such as DISC, MBTI, and NLP to create high-impact learning experiences tailored to each organization’s goals. Fluent in English and Japanese, Teppei has worked with leading companies in financial services, pharmaceuticals, technology, and manufacturing to help their Japan-based leaders thrive in a global business environment.

Paul Malone Language Consultant & Cross-Cultural Trainer
Paul Malone is an experienced English communication and cross-cultural training professional with over 30 years of experience empowering business professionals in Japan to communicate confidently in the global workplace. He specializes in helping leaders and teams develop practical communication skills for meetings, presentations, and collaboration across cultures. Paul has designed and facilitated assertiveness and communication workshops for Japanese business leaders, enabling them to use English more effectively to express ideas, motivate others, and build influence in international settings.
As a certified World Class Speaking Coach and accomplished public speaker, Paul combines his expertise in English instruction with a deep understanding of cross-cultural communication and presentation strategy. A Toastmasters International Speech Champion for Japan (2021) and Distinguished Toastmaster, he brings both professionalism and enthusiasm to every session. Paul holds a Master of Education in TESOL from Oklahoma City University and a Bachelor of Business Arts in Finance from New Mexico State University. His engaging, learner-focused approach helps participants not only improve their English, but also communicate with clarity, authenticity, and confidence in a global business environment.

Heidi Emoto Executive Coach & Cross-Cultural Trainer
Heidi Emoto is an experienced executive coach and cross-cultural communication specialist with over 20 years of experience supporting leaders in global and multicultural environments. Originally from the United States, she has been based in Japan since 2001, working with multinational businesses and organizations to strengthen communication, cultural understanding, and collaboration across teams. Heidi’s programs are known for their practical relevance and human-centered approach, helping participants develop empathy, adaptability, and confidence in global business settings.
An ICF-credentialed coach and Growth Zone 2.0 Practitioner (Global DISC + Psychological Safety), Heidi designs and facilitates customized training and coaching programs that empower individuals and teams to reach their full potential. Drawing from both educational and coaching disciplines, she blends interactive learning, reflection, and creativity to foster inclusive and psychologically safe workplaces. Her areas of expertise include intercultural communication, leadership development, team building, and conflict resolution.

Philosophia Japan works with a network of assistant trainers from a wide range of professional and cultural backgrounds, bringing depth, diversity, and real-world insight to our training programs. Each assistant trainer contributes unique perspectives drawn from their own experience in fields such as education, business, leadership, and communication. Their involvement enhances the realism of our programs—particularly in role-plays, case discussions, and simulations that reflect the challenges of working across cultures.
Many of our assistant trainers are practicing professionals who collaborate with us part-time, sharing their expertise to help participants build global communication competence, empathy, and confidence. Through their participation in interactive exercises and cross-cultural scenarios, they provide participants with invaluable practice in navigating diverse viewpoints, strengthening their ability to work effectively in international environments.
